Hello, again : )
Managing construction projects is my second career.
My love of mathematics led me to a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, and my passion for sharing that love led to a Ph.D. in Math Education, followed by over a decade of teaching math at colleges.
When my family grew and it was time to move to a bigger home in 2007, we could not find a place that met our needs. We ended up purchasing a property and decided to tear down and build a new home tailored to our needs. We were intimately involved in the design and city approval processes, and I became the owner-builder and managed the construction of our new home.
During this equally challenging and enjoyable journey, I learned a lot about construction and got exposed to the inefficiencies of an ecosystem that puts the homeowner at a disadvantage.
After we moved into our new home, friends started asking me for advice about building a home or remodeling, and I gladly shared the knowledge. One thing led to another and I started managing construction projects for individuals, and later also for general contractors too.
That experience gave me even deeper insights into this industry. Combined with my analytic background and attention to details, plus my background in education and my ability to run projects in an effective way while providing real value to my customers, it solidified my career pivot. In 2019 I obtained my California General Contractor license and I continue in this labor of love.
